Minions #284 - Door Jam!

Click Cartoon for Bigness Cookies!

Greetings, Door Knockers!

We're leaving next weekend for Reno and the 2011 World Science Fiction Convention (Renovations).  Mrs. Minion Master and I will be appearing on programming there over the following weekend.  But don't worry, I've got cartoons lined up, so service here should be uninterrupted.

I've made one important (but still untested) experimental change this week.  If you check the sidebar to the right, you'll see a new "Follow Minions at Work by Email" box.  This is a new automated reminder system that hopefully will replace the old Yahoo email reminder list, which I've gotten quite sloppy about updating lately.  However, I haven't had a chance to fully test it, and so far as I know, I'm the only person actually signed up for it so far.  You're welcome to try it yourself though.  Just enter your email, and you'll receive a confirmation email that you'll need to respond to.  Then, thereafter, you'll get -- something, I'm not sure what -- in your email every time I make a new post here.  I don't know if you'll just get a link, or some version of the actual post, or what.  I'll let you know, after I try it out by making THIS post...

Come on back here next week!  I won't be here, but the Minions will!

- Minion Master, Steve

(P.S. - I just HATE it when a cartoon goes up, and then a few hours later I notice a big ol' glaring typo in the caption.  Yes, I DO know the difference between "Here" and "Hear," but it was LATE!  EVIL KNOWS NO CURFEW!  Anyway, fixed now.)

(P.P.S. - I still don't know what happens with the new email system because I didn't get anything when this originally posted.  Perhaps it was too soon for things to be working properly, or perhaps my message is stuck in a spam filter somewhere and I just haven't found it yet.  In any case, if you've signed up an it DID work, I'd appreciate a report in the comments section.  Thanks!)

Greetings, Bubble Blowers!

Click for LONGER BREAK!
Okay, I freely admit that sometimes I do this thing in a hurry, when I'm not in the most alert state of mind.  Such was the case last night when I posted the current cartoon.  Actually, what I posted was not the cartoon at the top of the post, but the one at the left.  There's a critical, one-word difference between the two versions.

It was only when I looked at it again today that I noticed that the caption I'd posted was not the caption I'd intended.

Oh, well, the original version actually works as a joke, though it's rather more Zen than the low-brow humor I was going for, so I include it for your consideration.  Call it a two-fer.

Well, we made lots of progress this week on the Minions new and improved web site!

Okay, that's a lie, but we're EVIL, damn it!  Actually, we were distracted by a bunch of other things we're working on.  But realize, not only do I have two new web sites I'm setting up.  Not only do I have -- what? --about five existing ones that I pretend to keep up.  Not only am I on Facebook, and am I myself, plus two cats and a robot on Twitter (true!), but I'm actually expected to try and write something once in a while so they don't revoke my writer card.  (Writer Card!  Don't leave home without it!)  But hopefully we will be relocated soon.  I'll keep you posted.

See ya next week!

Greetings, Uninvited Visitors! (did you bring pizza?)

We're home safe and more-or-less sound from our California trip. So, a few pieces fell off the car along the road? What of if? As my son explained to me, "if it falls off the car and it still runs, you didn't need it anyway."

Work continues on the "Minions at Work" card game. I'm just STARTING the prep work for the card art, and there will be a LOT of that. I haven't done the math, but between 50-75 individual cards to design and lay out. But I've already done the most important part: photographing PIZZA!

Say, taking a break from our usual deal of trying to extort money from you, we're actually giving stuff away for a change. Got an Amazon Kindle reader or know somebody who does? Mrs. Minion Master, Chris, is knitting "Kindle Kozies," knitted bags and cases for Kindles.

Actually, she's just making prototypes right now, trying to figure out the best designs. The real deal will be given out in the fall as part of the launch of her new mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime (written under the pen-name, Christy Evans), but these prototypes have to do somewhere. So we're going to start a little contest to build our mailing list, and the earliest ones to sign on will have the most chances to win! Look for details in the next few days on our central web-site, YorkWriters.com.

See you guys next week!

- Steve

Greetings, Rear Guards!

Now that we're crushed California's economy with our evil plan (we forget what it was, but it certainly is working!) we're getting ready for our trip south on "work-cation" next week.

That means Minions at Work will be going on auto-pilot while we're on the road. New cartoons will appear as usual, but our reminders (from the mailing-list, Facebook, and Twitter) may be late or missing depending on time, internet access, and if we're paying any darned attention.

Running late again this week, so I'll cut the message short and get this out. The 'Bots will see you here next Monday!

- Minion Master, Steve
